Why Attend a Retreat?

Our lives are very busy with children, spouses, siblings, parents, work, school, etc. As much as we try spending quality time with the Lord it is challenging. Distractions, excuses and good intentions all play a role in creating stumbling blocks towards achieving this worthwhile goal. Twenty-six years ago, our First Lady discovered retreats. In a beautiful, serene setting she discovered that you can spend quality time, studying, worshipping and praising the Lord, and enjoy it!

Retreat 2017

Plans are underway for the 30th Annual Gospel Retreat to be held in Cedar Lake, Indiana from June  28 – July 1, 2017. This year’s theme is REDEEMED. We will study scripture on redemption  We will learn what redemption is and the importance of redemption to christians.

What Can I Expect at Mt. Hebron’s Gospel Retreats?

Serene Setting

Retreat participants can study outside or relax and lounge along the shore of Cedar Lake;  away from television, radios, newspapers and the internet, participants enjoy fellowshipping with one another

Early Morning Workouts

For those who are interested in working out while away from home, our very own fitness instructor leads the group in aerobics, zumba or a brisk morning walk.

Inspirational Morning Messages

Before bible study we are blessed with the Word of God. Each morning, the sermonette centers around the retreat theme.

In-depth Bible Studies

After the morning message, participants are off to class. There are classes for all age groups beginning at age 8. Classes are for ages 8 to 10, 11 and 12, 13 to 17 and adults. Included in the study materials are activities that reinforce topics studied. Study materials may include word finds, puzzles, pictures to color, crossword puzzles and study questions..

Retreat Projects

Step by step instructions are provided to complete an arts and crafts project. Some projects that participants have made include: a) A clock represents the theme Now is the Time, a study of Revelation b) A globe made by using a rubber ball which was In the Beginning God, the creation, the flood and other famous bible stories from the book of Genesis was the theme for the globe project c) A wooden perpetual calendar was made in conjunction with the study of the book of Numbers.

Everything that is done during the retreat ties into the retreat theme.

Advanced Features:

Team Competitions

At the beginning of the retreat, youth, teens and adults are divided into two teams. Teams work together to earn points. Retreat participants are involved in activities such as sack races, wall climbing, tug of war, leap frog, etc Points are awarded for each event. The grand finale involves teams vying for points in a Bible Quiz Face Off. This activity is similar to jeopardy. Each contestant is ask a question from our Bible studies. Points are tallied from all activities included our Bible Face Off. There are no losers or winners. However, the team that has the most points are first to select a prize from the prize table.

Praise and Worship In the early evening, we offer song and praise to the Lord. The youth leads this service and it is concluded with the adult choir.

Theater Night

Bible lessons come to life. Retreaters reenact bible lessons using today’s language, culture and add their own interpretations. Not only is this a very entertaining experience, it, too, reinforces what is learned at the retreat.

Retreat Fees

The fee is $285 for adults 18 and up; $250 for youth ages 14 to 17; and $200 for ages 8 and 13. The price includes round trip bus transportation, room and board, 10 hot meals, materials for arts and crafts, study materials, a retreat tee shirt, a souvenir photograph and transportation to and from the shopping area. We are still in the planning stages, and activities may be added.
